Explanation
One of the most common questions I get is, “How much do you charge to create a soundtrack?” Due to the many variables involved—such as song length, instrumentation, and arrangement complexity—there isn’t a simple one-size-fits-all answer. Instead of charging per song, I charge by the hour to account for these differences.
For example, a project with just piano and acoustic guitar will take less time and cost less than a full orchestral arrangement. To give you a general idea, the average cost is around $75 per minute of song for a basic rhythm track and a couple of additional instruments. So, a typical 3.5 to 4-minute song with a full band might cost between $250 and $300.
If you’re looking for a more complex arrangement, like a full orchestral soundtrack, the price averages $100+ per minute, bringing the total to around $350-$450 or more, depending on how elaborate the production is.
Ultimately, the cost is determined by the level of detail and complexity you want in your soundtrack. If you have a specific budget in mind, I can work within that range and provide the best possible production based on your needs.
Getting Started
To begin working on your track(s), I require a demo of each song that includes at least a vocal and one accompanying instrument. This allows me to write a chord chart and understand how the melody flows. Please note that I do not accept demos with just a vocal track—if you write songs without using an instrument, I have no way of knowing which chords you're envisioning to match your melody. Given the countless chord possibilities that could work with a melody, I'd be left guessing at what you’re hearing in your head.
To ensure I capture your vision accurately, I also welcome as much direction as possible regarding the style, feel, and preferred instruments for each song. Since we may not be working side by side during the production process, the more information you provide upfront, the better I can deliver a finished product that meets your expectations.
